AFI | AACTA AGM Wrap
Held on Tuesday 4 June, the AFI | AACTA AGM took a look at the achievements of AFI | AACTA from the past year, as well as taking the opportunity to highlight the growth of our local industry.
We know the importance of exporting Australian stories for our industry’s growth, and over the past twelve months we have seen some incredible success stories, from distinctly Australian stories such as MYSTERY ROAD and SWEET COUNTRY making waves within the international screen industry, to the box office successes of Australian-led international films and series such as PETER RABBIT™, BIG LITTLE LIES, and BOY ERASED.
Nurturing, promoting and encouraging the growth of our industry, not just within Australia but also internationally via the AACTA International Awards and the Asia International Engagement Program, remains a priority for the Australian Academy.
The AGM also saw Executive Director of AGSC and Regal Cinema Manager Jo Smith elected by members to the AFI | AACTA Board of Directors. A long time lobbyist for the Australian screen industry and Board Member for the Australian Screen Industry Association, Jo is also the Associate Producer of THE MATILDA CANDIDATE (directed by Byron Kennedy Award recipient Curtis Levy).
AFI | AACTA also says goodbye to departing member-elected Board Member Anita Jacoby, who we’d like to thank for her tireless support, lobbying and passion throughout her two-year term.
