AACTA Award for Best Visual Effects or Animation

In the case of a short film, the the production must have been must have been completed between June 14th 2022 and July 27th 2023.

In the case of a documentary, the production must have been completed between September 1st 2022 and August 24th 2023.

In the case of a feature film, the production must have been released in Australia (via one of the approved strategies in the 2023 AACTA Awards Rule Book) for the first time between November 24th 2022 and December 31st 2023.

In the case of a television production, the first episode must have been broadcast in Australia for the first time between September 17th 2022 and December 31st 2023.

To ensure the most comprehensive and inclusive field, AACTA reserves the right to extend the eligibility period. AACTA members will be notified of any changes.

If the production has been submitted for another award category (e.g. Feature Film or Television), and meets that categories membership requirement, then no additional memberships are needed.

If just the VFX elements are being submitted to the AACTA Awards and there is no corresponding production entry, a minimum of two candidates on the entry must be AACTA Professional members.
