We are pleased to present our first live event of 2021 at our new Melbourne home, Palace Cinema Como. Join us for a special screening of the new Australian documentary MY NAME IS GULPILIL.

In what is very likely his final film, the great Australian actor faces his own mortality as he nears the end of his incredible life. Holding the camera figuratively in the palm of his hand, David performs directly for whoever might be out there in the future looking at him, to what is for him his final audience.

He talks about what it is to stare down death, and what it was to live a life such as he did, a dizzying mix of traditional Aboriginal ways and modern Hollywood excess, and everything in between.

Described by The Guardian as "sublime, humane, elegant…an unforgettable film” MY NAME IS GULPILIL is directed by Molly Reynolds and produced by Rolf de Heer, Peter Djigirr, David Gulpilil and Molly Reynolds.

A panel discussion will follow the screening, featuring the director Molly Reynolds together with some close friends of David’s who will share their experiences of the actor, the dancer, the singer and the painter they all know and love.

Moderated by Luke Buckmaster (The Guardian).

In cinemas 27 May.
