Vale Brian Walsh

Remembering Australian Television Icon and AACTA Board Member, Brian Walsh

It is with heavy hearts that we at AACTA acknowledge the passing of one of Australia's most distinguished and passionate television producers, Brian Walsh.

Brian was a dearly loved member of our AFI/AACTA family for over twenty five years, an AACTA Board member since 2016, and an absolute champion of the Australian creative community.

For over forty years, Brian's commitment and drive to bring the highest quality Australian stories to the screen have been recognised and respected both here in Australia and internationally.

His unique instincts, tireless efforts, and enormous contribution to our screen culture have changed the landscape of Australian TV forever.

The productions Brian helped to bring to the screen have won more than 100 awards and been seen and enjoyed by millions worldwide. Just some of his award-winning and globally distributed credits include Wentworth, Upright, Deadline Gallipoli, The Kettering Incident, A Place to Call Home, The End, and most recently, Love Me, Colin From Accounts, The Twelve, and was currently working on Strife.

His unique kindness, empathy and fierce advocacy for our industry will be sorely missed.

Our hearts go out to his family and to all those who knew and loved him. This is a truly devastating loss for all of us, and for our industry.

Vale Brian and thank you.
