Statement from the Board
The Australian Film Institute, the governing body of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), today confirmed that Damian Trewhella is leaving the role of CEO.
Chair, Jack Christian, confirmed the leadership transition, "The Board thanks Damian for his many years of service and leadership as CEO of the Academy. Since 1958, the Australian Film Institute and now the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts have recognised and championed Australian screen excellence. Damian has played an important part in that work, and on behalf of the Board I thank him for his vision, tireless commitment and contributions,” Mr Christian said.
“As we look ahead the Board will continue to sharpen our focus on world-class film and television excellence, and continue refining the Awards and Festival to meet the expectations of members, practitioners, audiences and partners. Once again we thank Damian for his service and wish him well in his next chapter,” Mr Christian added.
