Margot Robbie to accept the AACTA Trailblazer Award on the Gold Coast

MARGOT ROBBIE ANNOUNCED AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2024 AACTA TRAILBLAZER AWARD

The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) today announce Margot Robbie as the recipient of the prestigious AACTA Trailblazer Award.

The Award will be presented to Robbie at the 2024 AACTA Awards Ceremony presented by Foxtel Group on Saturday 10 February at HOTA on the Gold Coast. The Awards will be broadcast on Channel Ten at 7pm AEDT that evening.

Australian actress and producer, Margot Robbie, has made a significant impact on the global screen industry with her versatile talent and captivating performances. Her notable roles include the critically acclaimed film I, Tonya, where she portrayed figure skater Tonya Harding, and Bombshell where she played a young woman navigating the toxic environment of a news network, both roles earning her Academy Award nominations. Robbie's dedication to her craft and ability to seamlessly inhabit diverse roles have earned her numerous accolades and nominations.

Robbie gained widespread recognition for her breakthrough role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and later in Birds of Prey showcased her ability to bring complex and dynamic characters to life.

In addition to her acting career, Robbie has ventured into producing through her company, LuckyChap. She played a pivotal role in bringing forth female-driven stories, such as I, Tonya, Birds of Prey, and Promising Young Woman, contributing to the push for greater diversity and representation in the film industry. Previously awarded to Chris Hemsworth, Rose Byrne, Simon Baker, and Isla Fisher, the AACTA Trailblazer Award recognises the achievements of an Australian screen practitioner whose body of work has served as an inspiration to others. The discretionary award, which is determined by the AFI | AACTA Board, acknowledges the recipient’s valuable contribution to promoting Australian screen culture and excellence at home and abroad.

The AACTA Awards ceremonies form part of AACTA Festival, a four-day celebration of Australia’s vibrant screen industry.
