Jan Fran was once described by a very drunk girl in the line to the toilet at a music festival as, “that girl who talks about politics on the internet,” which to-date remains the most accurate description of what Jan does.
Jan Fran is a journalist, TV presenter and internet commentator best known for hosting THE FEED on SBS VICELAND, MEDECINE OR MYTH on SBS and the podcasts SEXISM AND THE CITY and THE FEW WHO DO. She is the creator, writer and presenter of opinion segment THE FRANT, and her videos have been viewed more than 18 million times since she first started making them in late 2017.
Jan has shot and produced documentaries from all over the world for SBS TV. She regularly appears as a guest-host on THE PROJECT and has appeared as a commentator on Q&A, ABC BREAKFAST, PAUL MURRAY LIVE, STUDIO 10, THE LATEST, THE TODAY SHOW, INSIDERS, LATELINE, THE DRUM and TRIPLE J’S HACK.
Danielle Cormack has had an extensive career in film, theatre and television across both Australia and New Zealand. The New Zealand born actress quickly came to prominence in Australia with her powerhouse performance as ‘Kate Leigh’ in the acclaimed TV series UNDERBELLY: RAZOR. She also appeared in four seasons of the successful ABC series RAKE alongside Richard Roxburgh, and numerous other well-known tv shows but it was her portrayal of ‘Bea Smith’ in 4 seasons of the critically acclaimed prison drama WENTWORTH which solidified her position in the Australian industry. Danielle has most recently appeared in DEEP WATER, JACK IRISH and SECRET CITY Series 2. Danielle has also starred in SEPARATION CITY, with Joel Edgerton, as well as TOPLESS WOMEN TALK ABOUT THEIR LIVES, THE PRICE OF MILK and SIAM SUNSET. Danielle has been widely acknowledged by her peers and the public with multiple award wins and nominations for her work, including a Silver Logie Award in 2015 and two AACTA Award nominations.
Jake Ryan is a one of Australia’s most sought-after young actors, making his television debut in UNDERBELLY in 2011. After roles in HOUSE HUSBANDS and MR & MRS MURDER, he made his Hollywood debut in Baz Luhrmann’s THE GREAT GATSBY in 2013. Also featuring in Stan’s WOLF CREEK television series and the AACTA Award winning series WENTWORTH, Jake has become a regular on HOME AND AWAY, as well as featuring in feature films WORLD ORDER OUT OF THE SHADOWS and SAVAGE. Jake is also highly passionate about short films, having appeared in PRECIOUS LITTLE, KNOW THAT HE CRIES, ECSTACY, QUANTUM COMBAT and, his most recent, RED.
Raised on a farm in Kojonup, WA, Bec Bignell is a champion for regional Australia. She’s the Founder of Rural Room, an online creative hub and she manages a national network of regional media makers, the Rural Room Media Stringers. Bec is the Co-Founder of new media production company Cockatoo Co-lab, the Producer of popular short form series, 600 Bottles of WINE and an Associate Producer of VISIBLE FARMER - a 15-part web series putting a face to the incredible women of agriculture who produce half of all you eat!
VICTORIA WHARFE MCINTYRE
Victoria Wharfe McIntyre’s short films have screened in over 200 festivals worldwide. In 2011, she won the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Short, and was nominated for the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Short Film for THE TELEGRAM MAN, a film thathas played as part of the dawn service at ANZAC Cove Gallipoli for the last seven years. Regarded as a film of artistic, cultural and historical significance by the OSCARS Academy Awards Film Archive, THE TELEGRAM MAN is part of its permanent collection at the Pickford Centre in Hollywood.
Victoria’s most recent short film MIRO premiered at the 2017 Melbourne International Film Festival and was nominated for the 2017 AACTA Award for Best Short Film. She is currently in post-production on her debut feature film THE FLOOD, distributed by Madman Entertainment and XYZ Films.
Daley Pearson is a double Emmy® Award winning creator and co-founder and director at Ludo Studio. In 2019 Daley is Executive Producing the Logie winning animated series, BLUEY for ABC and BBC Studios, ROBBIE HOOD for SBS TV and showrunning CONTENT and THE STRANGE CHORES for ABC TV Australia. BLUEY is currently the No.1 show on iTunes and the most watched show in the history of ABC iView with over one hundred million views. Sydney Morning Herald said, ROBBIE HOOD is the most perfect piece of TV you’ll see this year. CONTENT is the world’s first vertical video drama series commission for ABC TV for release exclusively in vertical video. The animated comedy The Strange CHORES is due for release late this year. Pearson also played Thor's room-mate, Darryl with Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum in Taika Waititi's TEAM THOR and TEAM DARRYL comedy series by Marvel Studios.
Michelle Law is a writer and actor based in Sydney, Australia. She writes for print, film and television, and theatre. She wrote the play SINGLE ASIAN FEMALE, which had sold out seasons in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. She is also the co-creator, co-writer and co-lead of the SBS series HOMECOMING QUEENS. Her writing has been anthologised in numerous books including Women of Letters, Best Australian Comedy Writing and Destroying the Joint. Some of the publications she's written for include the Sydney Morning Herald, Frankie magazine and the Griffith Review. For her screen work she has received two Australian Writer's Guild AWGIE awards and an Equity Ensemble Award, and she has been a past recipient of the Queensland Premier's Young Publishers and Writers Award. She is a prolific speaker and regularly appears on panels and at festivals. Currently, she is working on an original feature film and several new stage works.
Adele Vuko is an actress, writer, director and producer. She is one third of the comedy trio SKIT BOX who have achieved over 100 million hits online across several viral videos including the parody music video ACTIVEWEAR and I GOT THAT FLOW. Adele co-created, co-wrote, and co-directed the television series WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM which screened on ABC, commissioned through ABC iView’s Fresh Blood initiative, and SEESO in the US in 2016.
Adele is currently developing a feature film and is developing another original comedy web series with SKIT BOX. After producing the hit web series BONDI HIPSTERS, she created, wrote and starred in OVER AND OUT, which was awarded Best Short Form Series at CANNESERIES 2019.
Michael Cusack is an animator, voice actor and director originally from Wollongong, Australia, best known for creating the acclaimed online series, DAMO AND DARREN and YOLO. Cusack’s animation combines his brand of biting satire with his own somewhat unpolished drawing style. He is currently developing a few projects for Television.
CHRISTIAAN VAN VUUREN
Christiaan Van Vuuren is one of the creators, writers and directors of the multi-platform comedy series SOUL MATES, which premiered on ABC2 in 2014 and moved to ABC1 in 2015. SOUL MATES is a spin-off of the successful web-series BONDI HIPSTERS which Christiaan co-created with Nick Boshier, for which he won an ADG Award for Best Direction in an Original Online Project in 2013, and whose YouTube channel has hosted in excess of 20 million views. The second series of SOUL MATES screened on ABC and ABC iView in 2016.
Along with Adele, Christiaan co-created and starred in OVER AND OUT, which was awarded Best Short Form Series at CANNESERIES 2019.
Lucy Gaffy is an award-winning filmmaker and Masters Graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
Nominated for Best Direction in a Short Film three times from the Australian Directors Guild (THE LOVE SONG OF ISKRA PRUFROCK, THE FENCE and DREAM BABY) and nominated three times for the AACTA Award for Best Short Fiction Film, Lucy took home the AACTA in 2016 for her proof of concept film DREAM BABY. In 2017 Lucy was selected by the ADG & Essential Media to direct an episode of the Channel 9 series DOCTOR DOCTOR through the Shadow Directing Program. In 2018 Lucy was selected for the prestigious Talent Campus at the 2018 Berlinale Film Festival and in 2019, Lucy directed three Episodes of the ABC/Netflix Co-Production THE UNLISTED, scheduled for release later in the year. Lucy is Co-Founder of the Directors Collective GOONO, whose latest film NURSERY RHYMES has screened at over 40 festivals and received a nomination for the AACTA Award for Best Short Fiction Film.
Stef Smith is a director and writer working across film and commercials. Her short film, JOY BOY, was a recipient for Create NSW 2017 Generator: Emerging Filmmaker’s Fund. JOY BOY premiered on SBS Viceland and SBS OnDemand in 2018 and has since gone on to win Best Australian Short Film at Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Best Director, Best Screenplay & Audience Choice Award at Freshflix Vivid Film Festival and Best Film & Best LGBTI Film At West End Film Festival. JOY BOY had its International Premiere at Palm Springs International ShortFest 2019. Stef is a recipient of the 2018 Australian Director's Guild Commercial and Content Mentorship program and was placed with Photoplay Films with whom she is now signed for commercial representation. Stef was selected by Create NSW to attend the MIFF Accelerator Director's Lab 2018 alongside the most promising emerging directors from Australia and New Zealand. Stef was funded by Create NSW again in 2018 to develop her television drama project, FISH, which was also shortlisted for Sundance New Voices Lab 2019. Stef has most recently wrapped directing an 11 x half hour episode original narrative drama series for Audible Originals Australia.
JJ Winlove is a writer and director who has made over twenty short films over the past decade. In 2014, he took a year off to make 12:12 – twelve short films in twelve months, a self-inflicted exercise to explore different ways of making films.
He followed this two years later with CROSSING PATHS, twelve interconnected short films following the lives of twelve characters as their lives interconnect over the course of a day.
JJ is currently completing production of his first feature film, JUNE AGAIN, through See Pictures, which he wrote and directed. It stars Noni Hazelhurst, Claudia Karvan and Stephen Curry.
Perun Bonser is an acclaimed short film and short documentary filmmaker with a background in dance from Western Australia. His first short documentary FIGHTER featured as a part of the FROM THE WESTERN FRONTEIR series on SBS, and his films SHADOWS OF DISPLACEMENT and INVISIBLE LIGHT have screened on ABC and NITV. Perun’s first narrative short BLIGHT , a supernatural outback western, was screened at ImagiNative Film Festival in Canada and at the St Tropez Film Festival, amongst others, before screening as part of Flickerfest's Australian competition and WA tour program. His most recent short film THE SHORE is currently screening at the Melbourne International Film Festival
Nicole Coventry is the production supervisor, scripted at SBS where she manages the development and production of SBS’s drama slate. Prior to joining SBS, Nicole worked for 8 years at the Australian Film Commission, as producer and editor at Showtime, and most recently in various capacities on a wide range of drama series, feature films and documentaries including TOP OF THE LAKE, UNDERCURRENT, THE GOOD COP, SAFE HARBOUR, ALI’S WEDDING, HUNTERS, TANGLE and WONDERLAND. Nicole has also produced a diverse catalogue of short films and music videos including the award winning short film SHERBERT ROZENCRANTZ, YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL and the Lexus Short Film Fellowship funded HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN.
Loani Arman is a writer, director and filmmaker based in Queensland whose films put women in front of the camera and behind it. In June, Loani won AACTA Pitch: Forever Unexpected pitching competition with her film, OUR GREATEST ESCAPE. Last year, she made the Screen Queensland funded comedy-drama pilot, THE MOTHERLOAD, which has been screened at Australia House during SXSW, Pilot Light TV Festival in the UK, and will screen at WebFest Berlin later this year. Loani was also one of the recipients of Screen Australia’s Doco180 funding for her web-doco, MY BODY SAYS, which has been viewed over half a million times online.
Ingrid Johnston first joined Animal Logic in 2002, working in a variety of roles in production before becoming Head of Production in 2015. Ingrid is responsible for building and leading production teams across all of the Sydney studio’s projects, which recently included THE LEGO MOVIE 2 and PETER RABBIT. Ingrid also oversees the production accounting team and works closely with the company’s artist and technology leadership to assure the most efficient and robust production processes and plans are in effect at all times.
Prior to this Ingrid was the Associate Producer on THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE. Her earlier film credits include VFX Producer for Baz Luhrmann's THE GREAT GATSBY, VFX Production Manager on SUCKER PUNCH, Co-Production Manager on LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOLE and Production Coordinator on HAPPY FEET.
Bobby Romia is a television producer, writer and former broadcaster with a Master of Arts in Screenwriting at AFTRS. He has held producer and commissioning supervisor positions at SBS Australia and NITV across a slate of scripted, entertainment and documentary productions which include DEEP WATER, THE FAMILY LAW, EUROVISION, SYDNEY GAY AND LESBIAN MARDI GRAS, THE LOGAN PROJECT, LIVING BLACK and AWAKEN. As a freelancer, he worked on UNDERBELLY: THE GOLDEN MILE, UNDERBELLY: FILES and with Hopscotch Films/eOne Entertainment.
He currently works as a Sector Investment Manager for Create NSW. Create NSW is the New South Wales Government’s new arts and cultural driver, which brings together arts, screen and culture functions in a new integrated entity.
AACTA PITCH HOST
Sardonic, unique, and downright weird – Gen Fricker has quickly become one of the nation’s brightest stars on the national comedy circuit, with her unique blend of sassy stand up and dark musical experimentation, delivered with a butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-her-mouth smile. Since making her comedy debut in 2011, as a national finalist in the Triple J Raw Comedy competition, Fricker has sold out seasons of solo shows at the Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Comedy Festivals, Supported US comic Reggie Watts on his last Australian tour as well as appearing at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Falls Festival and Splendour in The Grass to name just a few. In addition to stand up, Gen is heard every week day by listeners of the popular national radio station Triple J after recently taking over as the stations lunch presenter and a regular ‘friend’ of the breakfast team. Prior to this, Gen co-hosted Triple J’s weekend arvo’s. You may have also caught her on HAVE YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, DIRTY LAUNDRY LIVE, LEGALLY BROWN, as a columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald, a writer/performer on ABC2’s THE ROAST and Triple J’s Chatback with Tom Ballard.

Carly Heaton is the Executive Producer at Foxtel and has been working with the Foxtel drama team for four years. She has since worked across WENTWORTH, A PLACE TO CALL HOME, THE KETTERING INCIDENT, SECRET CITY, FIGHTING SEASON, PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, LAMBS OF GOD and the upcoming series THE END and UPRIGHT.

Stephen Corvini is a Drama Development Executive & Producer with Matchbox Pictures and is the Producer of SBS Series HUNGRY GHOSTS and SECRET CITY 2 – UNDER THE EAGLE. He also developed and produced the series SAFE HARBOUR for SBS & Hulu and film, and ODDLANDS in collaboration with Back to Back Theatre for the ABC & the Adelaide Film Festival.

Originally from London, Billy began his career writing script coverage for Pathe, Working Title and Film4 in his spare time. He then moved to Number 9 Films as a producer’s assistant, working for two years on feature films. These included a London gangster thriller called HYENA and Todd Haynes’ film, CAROL, starring Cate Blanchett. After spending some time producing short films and music videos, he moved to Australia and began working in script development with Fremantle Australia. He plays a role in guiding FreemantleMedia Australia’s drama slate and working closely with creative talent.
Writer, performer and rat Becky Lucas is one of most exciting voices on the Australian comedy scene and is commanding worldwide attention. Becky has spent years writing and performing stand-up nationally, locally and in her bedroom. She was a National RAW Comedy finalist in 2013 and was hand-picked for the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festivals’ THE COMEDY ZONE showcase in 2014. In 2015, Becky performed her debut solo show HIGHTIDE to sell-out crowds and rave reviews, backing it up in 2016 with her second solo hour of stand up, BABY. Her 2017 show LITTLE BITCH toured around Australia, New Zealand and made her Edinburgh Fringe debut. 2018 has seen her touring her highly acclaimed fourth solo show titled CUTE FUNNY SMART SEXY BEAUTIFUL and is a nod to her notoriously low self-esteem. Becky made her stand up television debut on ABC TV for The Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s COMEDY UP LATE and co-wrote, co-create and co-starred in BE YOUR OWN BOSS, which screened as a part of the ABC’s Fresh Blood 2018 series. Her TV credits include hosting ABC2 and Screen Australia’s half-hour documentary BIG BAD LOVE, as well as appearing on The Comedy Channels BEST OF THE SYDNEY FEST, JFL’s THE STAND UP SERIES, the ABC’s FANCY BOY, Network 10s’ HUGHESY, WE HAVE A PROBLEM, and in Comedy Central’s SHARE THIS. As a writer, Becky’s credits include co-writing THE OTHER GUY for Stan, as well as Josh Thomas’s Emmy-nominated show, PLEASE LIKE ME. She has also written a series of short stories for Comedy Central.
Engaging, effortless and telling stories with a hilarious candour, Bec has establish herself as one of the most exciting new voices on the Australian Comedy scene and a favourite at comedy clubs across the country. Originally from Perth and now based in Sydney, Bec has performed stand-up at major festivals including the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Perth Fringe World.She was hand-picked to be the opening support for Saturday Night Live’s Jay Pharaoh at the 2019 Sydney Comedy Festival, has performed stand-up at Splendour in the Grass, and was a feature act on Rove McManus’s live variety show THE POPULAR EXPERIMENT. Bec is the co-host of the brilliant LADIES GUIDE TO DUDE CINEMA PODCAST with her best mate and fellow comedian Alex Jae, reviewing movies that dudes just can’t believe they haven’t seen before.So, while there’s a chance you haven’t heard of Bec yet, she’s pretty good at comedy and destined for big things.
