From the offering of unique insights into the lives and legacies of Australia’s most prominent musicians and sporting figures, to the exploration of indigenous identity and resilience, the films nominated for the 2019 AACTA Award for Best Documentary are a diverse collection of personal stories that examine the Australian identity.

ADMISSION

Docs Fest will be held in Sydney at Event Cinemas Bondi Junction, in Melbourne at Cinema Nova and in Brisbane at Event Cinemas Brisbane City Myer Centre.

AFI and AACTA members receive complimentary entry to all Docs Fest screenings upon presentation of their membership card at the box office at the time of the screening. Members are welcome to bring a guest to Docs Fest screenings. Guests must be accompanied by a current AFI or AACTA member, and there is a limit of one guest per member, per screening.

Please note that tickets cannot be obtained in advance of screenings.

 

AACTA TV & VOTING

All AACTA members can vote to determine the Best Documentary winners during Round One voting from 10 September to 30 September. Documentaries will be made available on AACTA TV from 16 September. More information on voting, including information on Film and TV voting, can be found here.

Winners will be announced during the two major 2019 AACTA Awards events in Sydney, home of the AACTA Awards: The Industry Luncheon on Monday 2 December, followed by the AACTA Awards Ceremony & Official After Party on Wednesday 4 December, televised on Channel Seven with encore screenings on Foxtel. Tickets for both events will go on sale in early October 2019.
