Short Documentary entries for the 2019 AACTA Awards are now closed.
In order to be eligible, a Short Documentary must be:
- An Australian production.
- Completed between 28 May 2018 and 27 May 2019.
- A creative treatment of actuality, that is a single self-contained production or a series, of less than 30 minutes in duration. Any production that is a story/segment screened as part of a Documentary or Factual Program is not eligible and is advised to enter the respective television category.
Entering a short film work for the 2019 AACTA Awards also allows entrants to opt into the AFI | AACTA 2020 #SocialShorts short film competition. Those who enter a short film work for the 2019 AACTA Awards will be contacted about #SocialShorts closer to the time.
Membership & Entry
Late entries will not be accepted.
In order to be eligible to enter the Short Documentary category, a minimum of two Award candidates listed on the form must be current AACTA members. In the event that fewer than two Award candidates are listed on the form, then the sole Award candidate listed must be a current AACTA member. In the event that fewer than two Award candidates qualify for AACTA membership, then AFI membership will be counted as “AACTA membership” for the purposes of this rule.
