Online Video or Series

Online Video or Series entries for the 8th AACTA Awards are now closed.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible, an Online Video or Series must:

  • Be an Australian production that debuts via the internet and is intended primarily for online release and consumption via a video sharing site or unique URL.
  • An Online Video must:
    • Be a single, self-contained Scripted Program no longer than 60 minutes in duration.
    • Have the entire program available via the internet in Australia for the first time between 5 August 2017 and 5 August 2018.
  • An Online Series must:
    • Be a Scripted Program that consists of a potentially unlimited number of episodes but no less than two episodes.
    • Have the first episode in that series of episodes made available via the internet for the first time in Australia between 5 August 2017 and 5 August 2018.
  • Be a Scripted Program that can be described as Drama or/and Comedy or/and Children’s.
  • A Drama Program must comprise of either:
    • A series of self-contained stories, which can be screened in any order; or
    • A number of interweaving and overlapping plots continuing from one episode to the next; or
    • A single, self-contained and continuous drama that is no more than one hour in length.
  • A Comedy Program must comprise of either:
    • Self-contained stories or a continuing story with an ongoing plot or characters (Narrative or Situation Comedy); or
    • A series of unrelated sketches (Sketch Comedy).
  • A Children’s Program must be made predominately for viewing by children (either created using animation or recorded in live action) comprising of either:
    • A series of self-contained stories, which can be screened in any order; or
    • A number of interweaving and overlapping plots continuing from one episode to the next.
  • The entered Online Video or Series will be considered in the form that it appears online and must remain posted online and available for review, via a video sharing site or unique URL, until the end of the Judging Period (20 September 2018). 

Special rules for the Best Online Video or Series category:

  • Up to four candidates most responsible for the creation and execution of the production will be the nominee/s for the Award category. Candidates can include producer/s, director/s, screenwriter/s or a combination of which is at the entrants discretion.
  • An Online Video or Series entry will only be considered for a Best Online Video or Series Award. For the avoidance of doubt, an Online Video or Series cannot be entered in any other Award category (for example, Best Comedy Program or Best Drama Series).

 

Membership & Entry

Any productions entered into the AACTA Awards (or AFI Awards) for a previous year are ineligible.

Late entries will not be accepted. 

In order to be eligible to enter an Online Video or  Series, a minimum of two Award candidates listed on the form must be current AACTA members. In the event that less than two Award candidates are listed on the form, then the sole Award candidate listed must be a current AACTA member.
