"If you love our film and TV industry, then being an AACTA Awards juror is a real privilege. Not only do you get to view plenty of impressive home-grown content, but being a part of the judging process challenges and enhances your own production skills. On a personal level, it’s a great opportunity to contribute something worthwhile to an industry we all want to see flourish and continue to grow."

"It was a great pleasure to be a jury member for the AACTA Awards, as an industry member, film-lover and passionate armchair critic. I would encourage anyone who cares deeply about the future direction of our industry to throw their hat in ring and make their voices heard."

The Jury Process
As part of the jury process, jurors will be required to:
- View all productions entered in the category which they are judging (approximately 10-30 hours of viewing, depending on the number of entries and the category). Jurors will have a minimum of four to five weeks to view the relevant productions on DVD in their own homes.
- Assess and shortlist productions for discussion at the jury meeting.
- Participate in a jury meeting. All jury meetings will occur in Melbourne (interstate jurors will participate via conference call). An independent scrutineer from Ernst & Young will attend all meetings.
- Vote via a preferential ballot. Individual juror’s votes are not disclosed to the rest of the jury, and winners are not revealed by the scrutineer at any of the jury meetings.
Jurors’ names will be publicly released at the end of each year to ensure transparency and authenticity in the judging and voting process. However, the specific jury on which individual jurors participated will not be published.
Jurors must not have any vested interest in any of the entries which they will be assessing, and jurors must sign a statutory declaration attesting to this.

"I really enjoyed my experience on the AACTA TV jury for 2012. It was a great way to view all the fantastic television work of the year! I felt it was a great privilege to be involved, and be able to discuss and voice my opinion and support of fellow film industry colleagues and their work."

"I've had the honor to be an AACTA Awards juror for the past two years. I can honestly say I have not regretted for one moment being involved as a juror. From a selfish perspective, it's been a godsend. I've been able to view all the latest productions, gain an overview of what's being produced and enjoy the films that I otherwise may not have had the advantage of seeing. But it's also given me an opportunity to give back a little to the industry I've had the privilege to work in for the past 25 years. Viewing the films is a joy, but the adjudication process is what I love most. Passionate, unexpected and always fascinating - just like filmmaking. I just hope they ask me back to do it again this year."
