ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: ALL CATEGORIES

In order to be eligible for the Subscription Television award categories, a subscription television program must:

  • Be an Australian production produced for television.
  • In the case of a Best New Talent or Best Presenter (Male or Female) entry, have had the first episode of the entered series / season or the full stand-alone program broadcast in Australia on subscription television, or first released on an SVOD platform, for the first time between 14 October 2016 and 20 October 2017 (Eligibility Period).
  • In the case of a Best Live Event Production entry, have the program broadcast in Australia on subscription television, or first released on an SVOD platform, between 14 October 2016 and 17 September 2017 (Eligibility Period).

Special rules for Subscription Television programs entering other Award categories:

  • To be considered for a ‘Best’ Television Award and other craft awards, a subscription television program must create a separate entry in one of the television award categories (eg. Drama, Comedy, Children’s, Reality, Lifestyle or Light Entertainment).
  • A subscription television program that is only entered into one (or more) of the Subscription Television categories will be considered for that (or those) awards only.

BEST NEW TALENT

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible for Best New Talent, the candidate must:

  • Be an actor, actress, reporter or presenter who has made their major television debut in an Australian subscription television program that was broadcast during the Eligibility Period.
  • Where the candidate has appeared in a series:
    • The candidate must have featured in at least three episodes as the same character, reporter or presenter.
    • Up to two episodes can be submitted for judging, and will be judged as a singly entry.
  • Where the candidate has appeared in a single, stand-alone program the entire production must be submitted for judging.

MEMBERSHIP & ENTRY

Any production entered into the AACTA Awards (or AFI Awards) for a previous year is ineligible.

Late entries will not be accepted.

A Subscription Television Best New Talent candidate can be put forward as part of an entry into an open TV category. For example, as part of a Lifestyle entry the entrant may also list a candidate for Subscription Television Best New Talent. In that event, the respective television category membership eligibility requirement applies and the individual Best New Talent candidate is made eligible in the Best New Talent category via the eligibility of the production as a whole in the respective Television category, irrespective of whether the individual Best New Talent candidate is an AACTA member or not.

Where entry is being made directly and solely into the Subscription Television Best New Talent category (where there is no associated entry into an open category), then a minimum of one candidate listed on the form must be a current AACTA member (ie. if multiple candidates are put forward for Best New Talent from the one production, then only one candidate is required to be a member). In the event that less than one Award candidate qualifies for AACTA membership, then AFI membership will be counted as “AACTA membership” for the purposes of this rule.

You can become an AFI or AACTA member here.

Please refer to the 7th AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Rule Book for details of all Rules and Regulations.
